Last farmers market of the season Saturday, Oct 11
Hello folks, I just wanted to send out a quick message to let you all know that we’ll be ending our farmers market season this year a little earlier than usual. Tomorrow will be our last market, so please come by and say hi, as I’d like to thank you for supporting GCA in what has been our most successful season ever.
There was a lot of restructuring to the business year, as sometimes life hands you challenges and opportunities that you didn’t expect, then one must improvise a little bit to get back up to make things work. That is exactly what happened. The farm is now as small as it was 3 years ago, but it is more productive and economically profitable than it’s ever been.
Outside of the farm, I have also seen a lot of changes to the things that I want to accomplish in life. I’ve realized that educating people about how to farm and garden has taken more of the forefront of where I’m going personally. I have recently signed a book deal with New Society Publishers to write a book about my experiences in urban farming, and have also have been offered many opportunities to travel the world teaching and inspiring others to farm.
This winter, I will have an ebook coming out that I’ve been working on for the last 5 months with my good friend and business associate Luke Callahan. It’s going to be a technical manual about all the detailed operations of running a profitable commercial urban farm. There are also lectures and workshops being planned for California, Florida, BC, and even Mexico. Please sign up for my newsletter on the website to stay abreast on those.
So, all that said, ending the season a little early this year is just what has to happen in order to get cracking on some major projects to come. Again, thank you so much for your continued support, and I hope to see you next season, so we can do it all again.
